Are you hirsute?

by Christina Jones on April 24th, 2006

Are your legs this smooth right now? Mine aren't! ;)I just learned this word, hirsute, about 6 months ago - my husband thought I was nuts. And I thought it was a little nuts too, being that I am a little bit on the hirsute side myself and have been dealing with removing all of that hair for a good chunk of my life now.

Along with the blessing of a thick head of hair, I also have very hairy legs, arms and cheeks (and now under my chin as I have aged). I have been removing all of this regularly for quite some time, and using different methods all the time. I’m going to start “Hair Removal Week” with a quick overview of the different methods available for you to get rid of all of this hair, just about every woman out there has to do something to get rid of some hair, somewhere, don’t they?

Shaving

Plucking (tweezing, epilady)

Threading

Sanding

Waxing (sugaring, ect…)

Dissolving (depilatories)

Permanent hair removal (laser, electrolysis)

Bleaching

Can you think of any more to add? Ill talk about all of these (and any more you might think of) in more detail as the week goes on.

I’d really like to know how to remove underarm hair so there isn’t a shadow. Not that I’m hirsute or anything. :P

You aren’t going to like the answer, but here it is:

How about ingrown hairs after using one of the epilators on the market? I managed to get through the pain… hurts like a bitch around the ankles, and thought that I was home free, for a while at least! And then about a zillion ingrown hairs appeared. Nothing like pulling them out one by one. It was quicker just to shave. ;)

And no, those lotions didn’t work. :(

I bow to you on making it through that torture. I couldn’t do it. I would suggest using an antibiotic soap after you do that, it might help. Or change methods, that one is the worst!

Ill talk about those torture devices in another post soon, and will research a little and see if I can come up with a *real* answer. :)

I am 27 year old male. I feel very awkward about my body hair especially on my shoulder and back. I would like to know how is there anyway to deal with it.

Hi S.M. - keep your eye on eBeautyDaily this week - waxing is your best alternative here, and I have found the niftiest and easiest to use waxing product, and will talk about it, and waxing in general, a bit later this week. :) Thanks for stopping by and for the comment!!
