Beauty and Fashion Forecasting
From an article at seattlepi.com:
Emily Dougherty, beauty director, Elle magazine:
The return of colorful, obvious makeup is a major trend, Dougherty says. She cites such celebrities as Gwen Stefani and Dita von Teese as glamour girls using richly hued lipsticks, brow pencils, foundation and powder. In fragrance, limited-edition scents are an indulgence women are going for, Dougherty says. Single-note essential oils that can be worn individually or layered depending on your mood are another way to personalize your perfume. Women who don’t have time for a full manicure are going to like a product Avon is introducing for spring, she says. Stickerlike applications featuring base coat, color and top coat feel like polish, and let you do your nails quickly at home. As for color trends, she says, “Dark, short nails are very in right now, but by spring be ready for bright, fun colors, as well as nude, buff nails.”
Oh doesn’t that Avon thing sound bizarre - any Avon reps out there to give us more info on that?

Glamourous bright makeup coming back is great because it looks superb… but not so great because it’s difficult to do…! :P

Hi Christina,
Have you done a piece yet on the proper way to do eyebrows and what are the best products for that application?
Love your site, just book marked it.

Christina,
What are your thoughts on Sarah Jessica Parker’s “Lovely” perfume. I have been wearing it, and I swear it’s like a fragrance ‘mood ring’. Each time I put it on, it seems as if I smell something new, and oddly, it matches my mood!
I think it if very sophisticated. Any thoughts?

I could join that Fashion Don’ts Carnivale, for sure. I try to kind of steer clear of fashion blogging, just because there are so many people who do it so well, but I do have some ranting I could do for that one!
As for Lovely, I actually haven’t worn it, as I am not very experimental in that department. I have worn CK Eternity for about- I hate to even think it- 17-19 (?) years, or nearly as long as it has been out. For the first time in eons though, I made a change/addition to my fragrance wardrobe. I smelled Pure Poison and asked for it for this past Christmas. I have heard alot of really interesting comments about Lovely though, I think maybe I shall go to the mall next time perfume-free and give it a try, it sure does sound interesting!! I don’t guess I HAVE to be so loyal to one fragrance! :)

lol…yes it took years for me to switch from Chanel #5. Burberry Gold is a new one from them and it is lovely.
I’ll join the Fashion Dont’s Carnivale, if you will. I’ll bet your point-of-view will be valuable and interesting.
Platform shoes? done. lol

Will let you know :) ha! I’ll ponder the Carnivale over the weekend–My hesitation is that I’m not really a fashion site, so…

Hi Christina,
Gosh what would I know about shoes. I used to have a marketing position in nyc and had to look as if I had a clue. Now, I’m at home managing The Pet Set alongside my Chocolate Labrador. So, it’s turtlnecks and Timberlands…Oiy.
Your site, goes hand-in-hand with fashion….The Pet Set isn’t exactly fashion either, I like to think of it as accessories for the haute dog.
Anyway, I love reading the fashion blogs….some of those folks take themselves sooo seriously.
Gotta love it.
Have a great week end and tell everyone about http://www.the-petset.com?

Ha ha — I know what you mean. I am on a ranch in Texas looking out the windows at the donkeys and chickens in the back yard. Funny how life changes, isn’t it? I will blogroll you at my personal site, http://www.christinacjones.com/ since it will fit much better there, and you keep visiting and leaving comments here, Kim, and your web site will be all over the place, ok? You have a great weekend too!

AVA - I would like to say your website is very cool, i have a dog a 2yr old labrador so you can see i like pet sites…. anyways back to the subject, colors are great on our nails but it is time consuming you must admit this fact… would,nt it be nice to have a machine where you put your hand in it press a few buttons and hey presto nails that are painted…. Now theres a thought for 2006….. if you come up with this design remember i was the first to say it so i want 40% of the profits… hee hee……. Be sure to check out my article on Sedu on Christinas site… Sorry how rude of me,,, hiya Christina and how are you my dear…

Hi Hayley,
Thanks for the compliment. A 2 year old Lab! Oiy I remember those days, mine is a 6year old Lab, so he’s mellowed some. Note “some” being the operative word, Labs are a little insane.
But I like your idea for nails…the machine could have one slot for color and one for drying.. Kind of how they paint a car…lol

They actually do have a machine similar to that, I will try to remember what it is called and make a post about it soon…I highly doubt it actually works, but who knows! I’ve wanted to try it, but not willing to invest the $$ :)
Speaking of labs, we have a 4 yr old lab/bloodhound mix and I swear he is the best hunting dog around and is sooooo mellow. What an awesome combination of a dog, really. And he is a Rock Star: http://barknblog.aspenbloompetcare.com/?p=470
We love him so, even though he is a trash knocking over hound!
