Beauty Beat: A Healthy Body
I have been thinking so much lately about nutrition and health with my New Year campaign to get healthier and with the recent death of yet another runway model. Starvation, bulimia, drug use - it is all dangerous and it does nothing to enhance your beauty, believe me. The protruding bones, the dark circles and the lack of luster in your eyes, the dry skin, the depression - all signs of malnutrition that you can’t hide with any amount of makeup. No matter what your size, you can learn to appreciate the beautiful skin, hair and body of a vibrant, healthy woman. Look at Beyonce on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition - if you have a hard time appreciating her healthy, beautiful body, please realize that you might need help, and do what you need to do to get it. Love your body, it is the only one you are ever going to get.

I have a hard time appreciating her body. But I have a hard time appreciating any body in this type of magazine. I work for a company that hires lots of models for photo shoots. One of our models recently became a Guess model. Looking at her picture (in all of the current magazines) it’s depressing to know first-hand what she really looks like and what they’ve made her into. Her natural beauty is striking, and they’ve airbrushed her into a different person. I’m sure Beyonce’s body is curvier and more flawed than what we see - but I want to see it! I appreciate the Dove campaign and all it stands for, not the partnership between major consumer mags like SI and Photoshop.
