Blog Day 2005
For this event, I would like to recommend 5 blogs to you that I really enjoy. A couple of them I have mentioned before, but since they are my favorites, I will mention them again….and again, I am sure.
Tia Williams, author of The Accidental Diva, has Shake Your Beauty in which she talks about beauty from her perspective as a successful beauty editor and trends reporter. She is hilarous and thoughtful and thought-provoking, all at the same time - all with the recognition that she is a role model for many young women, and the sense of responsibility that goes along with that. I love a woman who loves Iman!
At Real Style Real Beauty - Charlotte blogs about beauty, but with a twist. She talks about what “real” women go through in their adventures to stay current and stay beautiful.
Beauty News - Elke is blogging about beauty from a professional makeup artist’s point of view. She offers great tips and shortcuts as well as product reviews to the “lay people.” She also has several ebooks for sale that I am going to check out soon!
For some seriously light reading about current celebrities, try on The Superficial for size. Be warned, it is not for the weak or the uninitiated! But it is hilarious for sure–they have an uncanny ability to say what you are thinking, but would never dream of letting cross your lips. This has recently changed format just a little bit from full blog with comment ability to slightly more of a web page format, with a forum to leave your comments, but it is still worth watching daily for all of the news that just doesn’t matter, but we can’t get enough of!
Melanie is a young woman blogging from New Orleans. She talks about working in the French Quarter, friends, music, movies, tattoos and all sorts of things in her world and on her mind. She has some very interesting links from her blog, my favorites come from the blogs of her various friends. She is currently trapped in the French Quarter with some of her friends and co-workers, and has a friend updating their conditions on the blog.
Speaking of New Orleans, if you are able, please offer them some support, as the situation there is growing worse by the minute. There will easily be 1million people homeless and jobless. I am having a terrible time thinking beauty when all of those people are in such dire straits so close to me. Contact the Red Cross or the Salvation Army with your donations. And don’t forget them in your prayers, please.
