Correct Your Skin Tone
My good friend Shannon, over at MakeupMinute, has a *don’t miss* post on correcting your skin tone, that you might want to check out. Even though, thankfully, I don’t suffer from rosacea or any other big skin problems (besides my constant black/whitehead battle), we all have skin tone issues - and evening it out is the major purpose of a whole class of cosmetics. Check out Shannon and see what she has to say about it. :)

I just have a suggestion, I too suffer from blackheads and whiteheads and recently got a prescription for tazorac. It’s a retinol cream that not only helps with wrinkles but basically unplugs whiteheads and blackheads. It’s a miracle in a tube! Anyway love reading your blog!

Oh really? My doctor wanted to put me on antibiotics and I didnt think that was a great idea. I will definitely talk to her about that. Thanks so much for letting me know (and for reading!!)!

Don’t go on antibiotics! My doctor put me on antibiotics before for my breakouts but it didn’t help at all! And I later found out that even the cream i was using wasn’t helping for blackheads because benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria, and blackheads aren’t caused by bacteria. Anyway the only thing that has worked is using that Tazorac cream at night and a very small amount of Benzaclin (benzoyl peroxide mixed with an antibiotic cream) in the morning. Hope that helps!

I won’t, no worries. I really couldn’t believe she even wanted to put me on them after what our family has been through with antibiotic resistant infections (see MRSAResources.com, and MRSANotes.com). I have almost called her twice today about that cream - but am afraid she is going to make me come in for an appointment. I will call tomorrow about it for sure, appointment or not. :)
Thanks again, a ton, D! :)

Eek - Ari - I swore I already answered your comment, but I guess I forgot to hit submit. :) Anyway, I have not tried anything by MDSkincare yet, it is on my list though. I have been using Obagi’s Vitamin C serum, and it has made a great difference in evening out my skin tone. But still, at 38 (yeah, with a blackhead problem - how stupid is that??), I have a few uneven spots and capillaries that need covering. The days of peaches and cream are past, I am afraid. :)

I use tazaroc for my psorisis..it does work on pimples also but you DO have to watch out for dryness…only dab a small amount on the zit believe me I learned the hard way..I woke up one moring with red, inflammed skin when I overdid it when I first got my prescription…it comes in gel form which was the original way but now it also comes in cream which I switched over to the other yr. Good luck but remember less is more with that stuff cause it can be wicked with a heavy hand

LOL - I have a friend, Cheryl, who is up somewhere around you that I saw at my high school reunion this summer - she said she was reading all of my online stuff, but she never has said a word - was wondering if you might be her. Glad to have you around, regardless. :)

Cheryl, you’re right about that. When I first got it, I used a bit too much, and well, my face was super irritated. But now I use no more than the size of a pea and it’s okay! It’s main use is for psoriasis and now it’s also approved for treating acne. It was my last resort treatment, since the list of things I’ve tried is ever-long and the last resort was going to be accutane, and I took one dose and had a severe reaction, so there went that! Happy blogging~!
