Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup

by Christina Jones on August 17th, 2006

jane-iredaleJane Iredale Mineral Makeup is getting a goodly lot of press lately, so it is something I wanted to try, and got the opportunity while I was on vacation. The makeup is light feeling, great coverage, has SPF - all of the things that you are accustomed to with mineral makeup.

They have a great selection of colors and offer tips on choosing a color on their website - you should pretty easily be able to choose a color for you - the one I chose was perfect.

Along with the loose mineral powders that we are accustomed to using, Jane Iredale’s mineral makeup also comes in pressed powder and liquid forms - I purchased one loose and one pressed powder, and I really can’t tell the difference between them, although the company says that the pressed powder version will have a little lighter coverage.

Their website is worth taking a few minutes and reading through - there is a ton of good information on it that could be applied to any mineral cosmetics you may be using - lots of great application techniques to be found!

I would love to hear from you if you use, or have used, Jane Iredale’s mineral makeup. The only thing I don’t like is that I didn’t purchase her 24-Karat Gold Dust, I wish I had come to her website before I went shopping!

Contains up to 48% 24-karat food-grade gold. This luxurious gold powder can be brushed on eyes, cheeks and lips. Mix it with hair gel and work it into the hair or a moisturizer for the shoulders and décolleté. It shimmers on the skin rather than glittering. Also available in Bronze and Silver.

Jane Iredale’s cosmetics can be found in salons and spas across the U.S and on several internet sites - SpaLook is the only one I can personally recommend out of the list, but the full list of sites is available at a link on the home page!

Thanks for this review. I’ve never tried Jane Iredale. You hear so much about Bare Minerals/Essentials being the best and you never (at least I don’t) hear anything about this brand. Now I want to try it!

An added benefit is that you can take the powdered mineral make up in your carry on bags if you are traveling.

Thanks for the info, Christine..I went to Dermstore online and ordered the 24 Karat Gold Mine kit for $58.00. That has 6 differrent shades with mult-usages.I chose this store as it has free UPS shipping & no sales tax.

I love JI’s liquid concealer. I got it from my dermatologist when I needed a little bit more under eye and breakout coverage than the JI powder provided. I loved the powder, too, but I have yet to find a match anywhere for that tube of concealer. It also lasts a really, really long time.

[...] This is an interview from Fashion Week with Kevin Kindelson, who is a makeup artist for jane iredale cosmetics, conducted by Julie for Coutorture. In the interview, which is just a few minutes long, Kevin talks about the basic features of mineral makeup and the things that make jane’s line different (hint - jane iredale’s minerals are certified “highly water resistant”).
