KaplanMD Skin Care for Maintaining the Youthfulness of Your Skin

When I read the literature about Dr. Stuart Kaplan’s new skin care line, the first thing I thought was - this is made for me, I can’t wait to try it! The premise behind this line is that it treats symptoms associated with estrogen loss, and maintains youthful skin for those who are beginning to show signs of aging. That would be me, at frightfully close to 38 years old. Here is a list of the 12 signs of estrogen loss in your skin, according to KaplanMD.com:
1. Accelerated Formation of Fine Lines and Wrinkles (yep)
2. Adult Acne (yep, yep, yep)
3. Flushing/Redness (not so much)
4. Loss of Firmness (getting there quickly)
5. Loss of Elasticity (starting)
6. Thinning, Colorless or Translucent Skin (not so much - yet)
7. Dull, Lackluster Skin (yep)
8. Dry, Dehydrated Skin (yep)
9. Uneven Pigmentation (yep)
10. Facial Hair Growth (*cough* yep)
11. Photosensitivity (I guess round one of skin cancer gave me a definite yes here)
12. Hypersensitivity(yep)
So, Dr. Kaplan has addressed each of these issues with the addition of soy, grapeseed and black cohash in each product, a blend which he has found to mimic the effects of estrogen on the skin (learn more). At this time there are 4 products in his line - a cleanser, toner, day cream (of course with SPF!), and a night cream. Dr. Kaplain claims that you need no other products, that these will cover all of the concerns - but he is coming out with some specialty products soon - a serum, eye cream, masque, and microfoliant (which I assume is an exfoliant product), that will round out the line to really fill all of your skin care needs (I do NEED all of these things…LOL).
You know my biggest issue with my skin is my nemesis - the blackheads. KaplanMD was so kind as to send me samples of the line to review, and I have to say it has done a fabulous job keeping these under control, far more fabulous than anything else I have tried thus far. I gave this product a good test, using it faithfully for about a month, and really it is superb. The scent is very mild and I love the toner in a spray bottle. The only downside for me is the price - the full system will cost you $495, which is probably going to keep it too far out of my budget for long term use.
Please do let me know if you have tried KaplanMD, I sure would love to hear your experiences with it! If you would like to try it for yourself, you can buy it at KaplanMD.com.

You can get products that work wonderfully at a quarter of these prices.

Very true, Kaplan M.D. is surely not a product for everyone, but the point in the review is that the products are very good. They are out of my budget too, as are most other “luxury” brands, but there are a great many people who wouldn’t think of buying anything at a more bargain price. Go figure. :) The products are quality and do what they say they do, so that is the most important thing to consider in a review. Thanks for the comments, ladies, and hope to see you around these parts again soon! :)

I agree with Christina’s comments. And I agree they are on the pricey side, but when my girlfriend talked about how great they were, I had to try them. I bought just the Toner and Day Cream to try out. And I have to say, I’ve used every product you can name, but these products really gave me amazing results! I feel its actually a bargain, considering La Mer and Chanel products cost twice as much and don’t really do anything!

Thanks for the comment and the testimony, Jessica. And, well, for agreeing with me. Ha ha! The cost of beauty products sometimes just astounds me, but I love to try the luxe ones too, if only to have a basis of comparison.

Beauty creams all make the same promises, but never see the kind of results they promise in real life, like disappearing wrinkles or younger looking eyes. When they can show me a bunch of old ladies who like their twenty years old, I’ll but whatever they sell. Until then, I’ll use good, affordable products — not the miracle cures.

Like many women, I’ve been in search for that fountain of youth. I still am. After reading an interview with Dr. Kaplan, I must admit, I was very tempted to buy his skin care range (found one on eBay selling for 50% less but unfortunately seller did not ship internationally). If I am to spend a small fortune, perhaps I should go for something more invasive (botox?) then buy much more affordable creams for maintenance? I’m afraid I’ll have to find more conclusive positive reviews before I hand over my hard earned dollars.

I have to agree. KaplanMD products are so amazing. The new LIP20 is the greatest thing I have ever used. Yeah it is a little pricey, but honestly I would rather pay $400 for something that will help keep me healthy and beautiful then pay the same price for a tiny Chanel handbag that might get lost, broken or stolen.

I have to tell you that after using these products for two weeks, my husband asked me if I had something done to my skin. My skin looks amazing, and the wrinkles around my eyes are visibly lessened. For the first time in years, I acutally like looking at my skin in the mirror. As far as the price goes…you pay for what you get. Each of these products has 10 active ingredients. Revive, provage, and stri-vectin have one each, and at 00.05% each, that adds up to about 1/20th of a penny. Basically, you are getting the three products listed above, and 10 active ingredients in each product. Do you realize that you would have to use ten different products to do what one of KaplanMD’s products does. So if you want to compare price, if you had to buy the number of products to do what the kaplanmd line does, you will not only pay more, but will not yeild the same results. There is no way that 10 products could go on your skin at the same time…you would be a greasy broken out mess. It is so great loving the skin you’re in…I will never compromise what I have to wear for the rest of my life. KaplanMD is a keeper!
