More on Eyelashes…

by Christina Jones on January 4th, 2006

How about these beautiful creatures??

I know you all will be MOST ready for the lushous lash trend to be over after hearing me go on and on about it, but Suzzann posted a question in the comments of my last eyelash post that I thought deserved more than just a comment. So here goes, one more time, and then I promise I will quit talking about them so much!

Anyway, her comment was: “Question–how many times can you expect to wear each strip? Do you clean (to get adhesive, mascara, etc. off)? If so, how does one do this? You have encouraged me, and I do love that long, long, lush lashed look (a little alliteration for you there).”

Oh, I do love a little eyelash alliteration (say that 3 times fast)! And, in all honesty, I had no idea how long you can wear them. I know I have worn them overnight, but never any longer. So I went researching and found this great eyelash article (where was this hiding when I was looking for them before, anyway??) here, at Oleda.com. But the snippet in it that answers both of Suzzann’s questions is here:

To clean false eyelashes, place them on a counter and put a few drops of water over them. After a minute or so the glue will be easy to pull off the strip part. Let dry and they will be ready to wear again. I often sleep with mine on. Since I take tub baths, they stay dry (as opposed to a shower), so sometimes I leave them on when I cleanse my face at night and climb in bed. Once in a while, I’ll find one on the pillow in the morning, but most often not! When that does happen, I simply clean them and put them back on!

I told Suz on the phone today (if you haven’t seen her lurking around here yet, you will, she has been my very best friend for years, and the best beauty consultant a gal could have!) that I use eye makeup remover to soften the glue, but Oleda’s use of water sounds like it would be much better, because there would be no chance of oils accumulating on the lashes to make them more difficult to apply the next time. And Oleda sounds like she has a great amount more experience wearing them on a daily basis than I do. In the past, I have always worn the individual eyelashes, which is something I “should” talk about, but I will give you a lovely little lash break before I do. :) Promise.
