Pumpkin Body Mask

by Christina Jones on October 10th, 2005

I just love the smell of pumpkin pie! Normally it makes me think of un-beautiful fat (as I want to gobble up a whole pie!), but here is a recipe for an almost-edible pumpkin body mask, originally contributed by the Ritz-Carlton, and I found it at DeliciousLivingMag.com:

Grind 2 tablespoons dry oats in a food processor. Mix in 1/4 cup canned pumpkin, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons cornmeal, and 2 tablespoons honey to form a paste. Apply from the neck down, including arms, legs, and stomach, using light strokes. Wrap yourself in a cotton sheet and lie down for ten minutes (it won’t stain). Rinse off in a warm bath or shower, pat dry, and moisturize.

Also from the article:

“Pumpkin’s natural enzymes also work wonders for skin,” says Melinda Milner, spa director at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay in California, where locally grown pumpkins appear in several body treatments. “We use it mixed with a little orange peel for gentle exfoliation and hydration,” she says. “Once it’s rinsed away it leaves your skin feeling amazing.”

The article also talks about the many benefits of pumpkin from the nutritional aspects to its aphrodesiac effects in the bedroom! I just KNEW I loved pumpkin!

It’s been years since I made my own beauty supplies, and I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for writing a post about it, it may come in handy cause I’m really broke these days! :)

LOL Agathe–that is as good a reason as any to make your own. I am a major DIY-er myself, and sometimes can’t bear to pay what someone is asking for something I could make myself (no matter how much money I have). Besides, other than this time of year, when will you ever find good pumpkin skin care?? :) Thanks a bunch for reading, Agathe!
