THIS is my Black Friday
I don’t go anywhere near the stores on that other Black Friday. And hate going any other time between then and Christmas, but here I am. Off for a grand ol day of shopping with my brother on the Friday before Christmas. This is the time that I am so glad we live in a small town, because even this time of year, the mall parking lot is not full. Busier than usual, for sure, but nowhere near full. All the cool people are off to Houston.
Why did I not do all my shopping online this year, as usual? Well, because I am lazy I guess. Not really so much lazy as waaaay overwhelmed with stuff to do, so as is my norm, I do the things I want to do and cram the bad stuff in at the end. :) I usually have spent a small fortune at Amazon and drugstore.com by now, but they haven’t made a dime off me this Christmas (thats ok, they have made a fortune off me during the rest of the year). I attempted to do some shopping at Kiehl’s earlier this month, but I had “technical issues” over and over, then found out that they didn’t get my order, tried to re-order (same technical difficulties), sent them an email about it so I could re-order my order, and got zero response back. So, so much for Kiehl’s. I spent hours trying to get one order placed, and it was all for nothing. Bah.
Gloss.com rescued me yesterday, I have to say. When I found my Kiehl’s order didn’t go through, yes, on the Thursday before Christmas, I got a magical email from Gloss with a 3 hour window for last minute shoppers to get free overnight delivery. It remains to be seen whether my order makes it to Tennessee today or not, but I really don’t care. I have called and made my apologies for the possible lateness of my gifts, told my father my Kiehl’s sob story, so its all gravy from here. I hope. And if that dang order does show up today, I will be a Gloss fan for life. :)
Do you have any good, bad or ugly online Christmas shopping stories? I would love to hear them. I hope I don’t have any to tell after today. :)

I went to the Mall on Friday too - and in Long Island, that’s a mistake. It was wild! The line to get a mall gift certificate was 50 people deep on Friday at 2 pm. I mean, don’t these people work!? (I took the day off). I was proud of myself - in and out in one hour, with 6 gifts under my arms :)
