Victoria’s Secret Show Last Night

by Christina Jones on December 6th, 2006

V Secret

Model: Miranda Kerr

Did you all catch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night? I had to go to a school choral concert last night, so unfortunately I missed it - I am sure my hubby didn’t miss it though, will have to get the down-low from him. Ha ha! If you all saw it, let me know what you thought!

You can see the video highlights at Victoria’s Secret website - and if you haven’t been to VS lately, be sure and go. The larger stores have a cosmetics section that is getting close to rivaling Sephora’s. I have to throw a rant in here though - they were out of the DuWop gray smokey eye collection when I was there last time. *pout* Wait - did I already rant about that? Maybe. ;) I am still pouting I guess.

I missed the show, and that is fine with me. I dont need any reminders of how imperfect my body is! Do those girls eat?????

    xx

LOL Cindy - it is rather disgusting. But I tell you, the one thing I like about VS models is that they are voluptuous - which I guess is sometimes even worse. I mean - I am not so envious of the walking skeletons during Fashion Week - but who the heck wouldn’t LOVE to look like a Victoria’s Secret model?? *sigh*

Christina, actually the same ones that model for VS also work the runways at Fashion Week. It is not natural for a woman to be 5′11″ and 125lbs and be healthy. Really, anything that they have can be obtained with surgery, and my guess is, that is how many of them got their bodies. You can also work out for about 2 hours a day. I remember after Heidi Klum had her first child, she was issued an ultimatum by VS that she had to get the baby weight off by a certain date (I forgot the event) or she would not be modeling for them.

Vs is one of the biggest criminals in media distortion of women mainly because they present these models as normal. Normal is healthy (many of their models are not), normal is grown women have hair down there (at least some) and normal is not a 14 year old face in a 20 year old pout with 25 year old lacy babydoll.

Hi Sue, I know the VS models model for other designers as well, but what I appreciate is that VS doesn’t use the anorexic looking girls. Yes the women have perfect bodies, but I appreciate them much more than the walking clothes racks that model for some other designers, thats all.

My hope, and one thing that I hope women can take from eBeautyDaily, is that you don’t have to have a perfect body or a perfect anything for that matter to be beautiful. I have a history of talking against unhealthy body image and plastic surgery, you will find that if you read beyond this post.

That said, the VS models have a job to do, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with requiring someone to lose baby weight before they can model. That is their job after all, and we are all expected to come to work prepared for our jobs, are we not? I think there becomes a problem when you encourage women to starve themselves, yes - but looking at the VS models (at the one above, for instance), they look great. Curvy where a woman is supposed to be curvy, and not where she isn’t. And as for the hair “down there,” I am quite sure they do have some. The removal of that is their own doing. ;)

The model above, Miranda Kerr, by the way is in her 20’s. Not 14. The Victoria’s Secret models are, for the greatest part, an appropriate age to model lingerie.

Thanks for the comment, Sue, just because I disagree somewhat, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate your time and your passion. ;) Take care.

I love VS perfume especially Body by Victoria and Rapture..we have tons of stores around here but no big ones so none of the ones around me have the makeup dept. As for their undies, etc. they can keep em most dont fit you unless you are a size 4 and their stuff is way overpriced and not worth the money. I have some of their bras and they are no better then less expensive ones I have purchased in the past at other stores. But I love love love their perfumes. So I guess they are good for something!

Every once in awhile I find a VS bra that I dearly love and wear it til the wires start poking out. But, I agree, it is a little rare - but so is finding the perfect bra. Anyway, VS is a girly dream store, and if you get a chance to go to one with their cosmetics section - don’t miss it - it is WONDERFUL! :)

Thanks for the comment Cheryl! :)

My hubbie and I watched the show the other night. It was more for him than me but I was amazed by the set changes and the amount of money that must go into one of these shows. It was interesting and yes I wish I had a body like that!

It was awesome! They were all very beautiful with the barely there outfits! Justin Timberlake also there to sing his two hit songs Bring Sexy Back and My Love. I’m sure it will be on again, make sure to watch it!

I watched a little, though yes, kind of depressing to see all that wonderfully perfect T&A walking down the runway, but the costumes were fabulous. I have to say too, I was way impressed by Justin Timberlake who I normally could care less about. His whole group really rocked.

I thought the VS fashion show was very well put together, but some of the designs were a little off…such as the completely strange yellow boy scout-esque piece one of them was wearing. But overall I liked it- I hope the next catalogue will be full of variety.

I don’t know why these shows don’t depress me - they probably should. LOL I guess I love to watch beautiful women like the next guy - ha ha. The fantasy part of their shows (and heck, their stores too) is always fun, I think, and just kind of gives you a hint of the styles that will be up and coming in the VS stores. They always have tons of variety, that is one of the best things about VS to me. :) Thanks so much for the comments, ladies! :)

I know it’s a little late to pipe in my 0.02 on the show, but I just had to say that my husband is jealous of the guy that has the job to powder puff those models’ behinds!

I wanted to drop my 2 cents, and well, I love Victoria’s Secret. My ultimate idol is Adriana Lima and I’m way off becoming one of them, but I’m definately doing something about it. I think having these models to look up to isn’t really a bad thing, since they made me realize how sexy I COULD be, you know? Yes, every woman has a beautiful face, but why not feel sexy all over, if there’s a chance you can change yourself? I’m happy with the life-style changes I’ve made and none of them include starving myself! I even snagged myself a hot personal trainer, and I’m still fat!!

The V.S. store at Lenox Mall in Georgia is the best! I love it!! I can’t wait for the Semi-Annual girls!!!

oh, and the show was awesome. I taped it ;)
    Great website!!!
