Waxing, Part Deux

by Christina Jones on May 4th, 2006

I love waxing!

I used the Parissa Wax Strips again last night - I am still loving them!

Heidi left a comment yesterday about how they left a sticky residue on her arms. This can be a potential issue with all waxes - one way you can battle this is to lightly coat your skin with some talc powder. This also helps with pain a lot, because half of the pain from waxing comes from pulling the top layer of your skin off with the wax. If you use powder, it provides a barrier between the wax and your skin, and the only pain comes from the actual hairs being pulled out. Still a little painful, but a lot less than without the powder!

My skin is dry as a snake, and the dry skin just comes right off with the wax, and I sort of like it that way- I feel like I am exfoliating a little along with getting rid of that pesky hair. I am guessing Heidi does a better job moisturizing than I do and just doesn’t have that problem. ;) I hope you will try my powder suggestion, it might just work.

Another waxing/pain related tip or two: Pull the strips off just as fast as you can. The faster you pull, the less painful it is. I have found my husband to be *quite* good at this, and I think he enjoys torturing me, just a little. ;) Pull the strip off keeping your pulling hand parallel and close to the skin. If you pull in more of an upwards direction it will hurt like Hades, and won’t pull the hairs out like it should. Immediately after pulling the strip, lightly slap your skin, that makes the pain go away super fast too.

Hope that helps some, let me know if you have some good tips and tricks that you have figured out in your waxing history!
